1. NFIB. "Optimism index rose 0.8 to 99.0 or 0.6 better than estimates and still above its 52yr average of 98. This uptick was driven mainly by an increase in those expecting higher real sales. However, the Uncertainty Index also rose 3 points to 91, signaling a heightened level of ambiguity about future capital expenditure plans."

2. JOLTS. Job openings surprised to the upside in October. Rates point to a weaker report than the headline suggests. Openings flat while hiring fell and layoffs & discharges rose to the highest since Sep'24. Excluding the pandemic, the quits rate dropped to the lowest in over 10 years.

3. Silver rally. Silver's 91% YoY move is pushing into historically stretched territory, close to the +2σ threshold.

4. Investment Manager Index. "The IMI’s Risk Appetite Index has risen from +18% in November to +34% in December, its highest since December 2024 ... Expectations of near-term market returns have likewise improved to their highest since December 2024, signaling one of the most bullish stances in the survey history."

5. Mag 7 vs. SPX. "Only 2 of the Magnificent 7 stocks are beating the S&P 500 this year. For all the talk of concentration risk, stocks are at record highs even with Big Tech losing momentum. This is a broad and healthy bull market."
